SENNONvillage
The story behind the village —

It Started at 3 a.m.

The brutal, knock-down fight we just had was still ringing in my ears. As I lay in the dark, the anger spiraled, but this time it wasn’t just about a ten-minute argument. It was the realization of a twenty-one-year war. This is the story of my awakening.

June Sennon, founder of SENNONvillage.

The Years I Gave Away

For twenty-one years, I broke down every boundary I had ever set for myself. I sacrificed my peace at the altar of compromise. I took my power, placed it on a golden platter, and surrendered it. I spoon-fed him with my complacency. In doing so, I watched my self-respect splatter across the floor. I gave away my dignity to a man who was never interested in doing the hard work.

The Mad Woman’s List.

Restless and suffocating under the weight of his disrespect, I got out of bed. I turned on the lights. My eyes caught the notepad on my headboard. I decided to write down twenty things I blamed him for — just to release the rage swirling in my mind.

I picked up my pen. But as the sad ink bled onto the page, Pandora’s box broke wide open. My hand feverishly chronicled the wounds, the neglect, and the deep cracks of a broken heart I had ignored for too long.

“I intended to write twenty. I ended up with more than a hundred.”

Shedding the Scales.

The mask, shrouded in secrecy for decades, finally dropped. The scales fell from my eyes. It became brutally clear: this relationship afforded him the life he wanted, but could not afford on his own. I had been nothing more than a stepping stone. A placeholder. I had to face the hardest truth of all. I was a willing participant. I asked myself with brutal honesty:

“June, where the hell have you been all this time?”

“How did I become a willing participant in this toxic dance?”

“Who did I have to become to fit so nicely into this dysfunctional, one-sided relationship?”

“When did I give up my power?”

I Used the Pain as a Chisel.

Michelangelo said he saw the angel in the marble and carved until he set it free. I took the pain of that 3 a.m. awakening and used it as my chisel.

I did not run from the grief. I faced the stone. I carved away the twenty-one years of compliance. I chipped off the silence and the complacency until the woman I was always meant to be finally stood revealed. I rebuilt my life from the ground up, not as a placeholder, but as the woman I ignored and put in second place all along.

Your Story Is Not Unique.
And That Is the Good News.

When the floor drops out beneath you, it is easy to believe you are the only one falling. You are not. Thousands of women are standing on the exact ledge you are standing on right now.

I know the shame that whispers in the dark. I know what it feels like to look at a life you poured decades into and realize it was an illusion. Knowing your story is not unique means knowing the way out has already been walked before. You are not alone.

Why I Build Websites Now.

I build websites now because they are digital sanctuaries. Once, I served up my own power on a golden platter. Now, I use my skills to hand power back to women who are finally ready to claim their space.

A website is more than code. It is a declaration of presence. From my home on this Caribbean hillside, I build these platforms to prove that no woman ever has to ask for permission to be seen or heard again. Rebuilding for you is how I take back what I gave away.

Woman to Woman. Heart to Heart.

I know the weight of the story you are carrying because I carried mine for twenty-one years. If you are ready to stop shrinking and start building something that is unmistakably yours, you do not have to figure this out alone.
